The Usune GW4/GW5 series outdoor disconnect switches are high-voltage specialized equipment designed for outdoor power transmission and distribution scenarios. They offer a complete range of rated voltages, covering 12kV, 24kV, 35kV, 72kV, 110kV, 126kV, 145kV, and 170kV, and are compatible with 50Hz and 60Hz AC power systems. The products employ open and semi-enclosed weather-resistant structures, with their core function being to achieve safe circuit isolation and switching.
This equipment lacks an arc-extinguishing device, unlike circuit breakers and load switches. Its core working principle is the formation of a clearly visible physical isolation break after tripping. Primarily used for power disconnection operations during equipment maintenance and line inspections, it can construct a safe insulation zone, eliminating the risk of accidental energization and leakage, and comprehensively ensuring the personal safety of maintenance personnel and the stable operation of power equipment.
With its excellent outdoor weather resistance and stable isolation performance, the outdoor disconnect switch is suitable for outdoor high-voltage power distribution systems in multiple industries. Core application scenarios include:
Urban and rural overhead power distribution networks, suburban substations, power grid upgrade and renovation projects.
Highway and railway power supply systems and residential community supporting power distribution equipment.
Power transmission and distribution systems in industrial parks, oil fields, mines, and other dusty and complex operating conditions.
Outdoor line isolation and switching equipment for coastal wind power and high-altitude photovoltaic power stations.
The equipment adopts an integrated design for corrosion resistance, waterproofing, dustproofing, and anti-aging, with a high protection level. It can operate stably in extreme temperature environments from -40℃ to +45℃, and can withstand harsh conditions such as rain, snow, wind, sand, coastal salt spray, and high-altitude low pressure, completely solving the problems of easy aging, corrosion, and frequent failures of traditional outdoor switches.
After the device trips, a clearly visible isolation point is formed. Its excellent insulation performance and strong resistance to electric fields ensure complete circuit isolation, effectively avoiding the risks of leakage and accidental energization. It fully complies with high-voltage power grid safety operation and maintenance standards, providing a direct and reliable safety guarantee for maintenance work.
The main body of the equipment is made of high-quality steel and aluminum alloy, offering high mechanical strength, excellent impact resistance, and dynamic and thermal stability. It can withstand short-circuit current impacts and long-term outdoor vibration, resulting in a low failure rate and long service life, effectively reducing equipment replacement costs.
Standard configuration includes both manual and electric operating mechanisms, allowing for flexible and labor-saving on-site operation. Remote control functions can be customized as needed, enabling intelligent remote switching and adapting to automated power grid operation and maintenance modes, significantly improving work efficiency.
The product's compact structure and lightweight design facilitate on-site hoisting and installation, shortening the construction cycle. Its simple structure and low loss result in minimal daily maintenance workload, effectively reducing subsequent labor and material costs, offering excellent cost-effectiveness throughout its entire lifecycle.
In May 2025, Usune provided 12 sets of GW5 series 110kV outdoor disconnect switches for the Wuyuan 110kV substation renovation project of Inner Mongolia Power Group. Located on the northern plateau, the project area experiences consistently low temperatures, strong winds, and harsh climates. The products replaced 20-year-old equipment and were officially put into operation after 6 days of standardized installation and commissioning. Currently, the equipment is operating stably and can easily cope with the extreme cold weather of the plateau, significantly improving the isolation safety of the substation and ensuring reliable power supply for regional industrial, agricultural, and residential use.
The products adopt an all-weather design, adapting to a full range of temperature environments from -40℃ to +45℃. They possess excellent waterproof, dustproof, wind and sand resistance, salt spray resistance, and plateau adaptability capabilities, enabling long-term stable operation in various harsh outdoor scenarios such as coastal corrosive areas, extremely cold northern plateaus, and inland sandy mining areas.
The two have significantly different functional positioning: outdoor circuit breakers are equipped with arc-extinguishing devices, capable of separating and connecting load current and short-circuit current, undertaking the core functions of circuit protection and connection/disconnection; outdoor disconnect switches lack arc-extinguishing structures and cannot interrupt load current. Their core value is to form a visible physical isolation point, specifically for safety isolation during equipment maintenance. In actual power grids, the two are often used together to achieve dual protection of circuits and safety isolation.
Customization is supported. Operation methods can be selected as needed, including manual, electric, and remote intelligent control modes; voltage specifications fully cover the 12kV-170kV standard models. Furthermore, for special scenarios such as coastal corrosion resistance and high-altitude low-temperature environments, equipment materials and protection levels can be optimized to adapt to various differentiated engineering needs.
